Why India May Not Vote For Change

  :
Change .Where ever  in the world elections are due the electorate are expected to vote for change  Russia ,  Iran .

But change may not be the Indian way.

1 Indian progress report was quite good till four years of the ruling Congress Party lead UPA coalition government. The economic downturn has lead to a global situation and cannot be blamed squarely on the present government.

2 The UPA was an early starter in its election campaign with populist budget outlays presented in the Feb 2008 itself . The key component being the Rs. 60,000 Crores ($  Billion 14) in farm debt waivers and a lot of schemes aimed at the rural sector which constitutes the major voting population in India.

3.The results of the farm waivers are being felt today.

4.The UPA has taken considerable steps to lessen the effects of the global recession bringing stimulus packages .

5. A change at this point in the political leadership could put the the economy into a paralysis. As any new  government  other than the present one would need time to prepare the blue print and play the blame game on the previous government.

6. A change  in the political leadership is not going to alter the functioning of the RBI in a major way.

7.On the National Security front, the international pressure tactics is yielding results .

8. India is not alone in re electing incumbent  political party .Canada voted  Stephen Harper , Conservative Party elected  on October 14, 2008 at height of economic meltdown.

9. The Indian electorate  want to see results being delivered. and may vote a "Delivering "party not just again but again and again . As is seen in the Delhi elections.

10. At least some percentage of the Indian electorate is really thinking and not voting for popular movie stars / cricket stars known for their crowd  pulling acumen . Hopefully there will be less number of such people in the Indian Parliament who get elected for their "face value". And hopefully there will be less number of full time , professional politicians who have failed to deliver .
